Samsung GX-10 10.2 megapixel Digital SLR
Samsung introduced the GX10, their new 10.2 megapixel digital slr with optical image stabilization and waterproof casing today.
This digital slr is part of their series they are codeveloping with Pentax, therefore the spec similarities to the Pentax K10D dslr introduced last week.
Key points of the Samsung GX10 as with the Pentax is 10.2 megapixels, water and dust proof shell and an optical image stabilization system and a dust removal system.
The camera casing and control arrangements are a little different than the Pentax K10D. Here’s a side by side comparison.
Samsung’s GX10 pricing has not been set but it should be similar to the Pentax at $999.99 US with a 18-55mm kit lens.

GX-10 - Intelligent design
The GX-10 boasts a 10.2 mega-pixel image sensor, which offers the photographer a sharper image, with richer colours for a truly compelling composition. Taking photos is made easier with the PentaPrism viewfinder with its high magnification (0.95x) to provide a clearer, wider field of view (95%) for optimum shooting. For unrivalled viewing of photos the GX-10 also comes complete with a wide view 2.5” TFT LCD (210k pixels). With its powerful built-in Optical Picture Stabilization (OPS) technology,…
Pentax K100D DSLR with Image Stabilzation
Pentax’s latest DSLR to complement their prosumer offerings is the K100D 6.1 megapixel camera. Selling point for this camera is the built in image stabilization along with a large 210,000 pixel 2.5 inch LCD, 16 segment metering in a steel frame in a compact design Pentax is known for.
With a basic 18-55mm lens, the basic kit goes for $699.99 US.
Pentax offers the same camera without the image stabilization in the K110D (why a higher number for a lesser camera?) for a $100 less. With the same 18-55mm lens, the kit goes for $599.99 US. The same list price as the *ist DL but I anticipate the street price will be less for the Pentax *ist DL compared to the K110D.
Pentax K10D DSLR
Pentax released their rumored 10.2 megapixel K10D camera on September 13th. With image stabilization and a waterproof body this a nice rugged number to stand up against the latest Nikon and Canon entries. Geared for the professional user, accessories like a dust proof battery grip and new DA 70mm F2.4 digital SLR lens with ultra-thin pancake design and uni-focal, medium-telephoto optics were also introduced.
The K10D camera body ships November 2006 for US $899.95 and as a kit with a DA 18-55mm lens for US $999.95. The D-BG2 Battery Grip will ship at the same time for less than US $190.00. The PENTAX DA 70mm lens will ship in October 2006 for less than US $600.00.
